Amanda Anna Albano
Editing, translation and editorial consultancy for art, visual culture, fashion and design — in Italian, English and French.
I am an independent editor, translator and editorial consultant, Italian by mother tongue and based in Cambridge.
For many years I have worked with international publishers, museums, galleries, cultural institutions, production companies and private clients — on exhibition catalogues, illustrated books and publications where text and image have to work together.
My particular experience is in projects that need close attention to both language and visual content: an understanding of how words, images and editorial structure combine to give a publication its identity.
Shaping a publication from the outset: concept, structure, voice and the relationship between text and image.
Working with authors and curators to clarify argument, sequence and tone across essays, catalogues and books.
Careful, consistent editing in Italian, English and French — essays, captions and supporting editorial material.
From English and French into Italian, with the sensitivity to register and visual context that art and fashion texts demand.
For other languages, I work with a small circle of trusted colleagues — and remain your single point of contact.
Art, visual culture, fashion, design & the visual humanities.
